I am an editor in the Pacific Northwest region of the U.S., specializing in editing books, magazines, academic content, writing by nonnative English speakers, and materials for businesses and nonprofits. I spent most of my time as an undergraduate in English literature and creative writing courses and Spanish classes, earned my BA in Spanish, and later completed a professional editing certificate at the University of Washington. I have been a member of the Northwest Editors Guild for many years and served on its board of directors for two years. Their member meetings, workshops, and conferences have been a crucial part of my continuing education as an editor.

I have loved language as long as I can remember and am lucky to be part of a family that treasures reading and books. My parents, grandparents, and aunts and uncles read stories to me as a child, and as I got older I curled up with a book as often as I could. In high school and college, I relished writing and literature classes and fell in love with Spanish.

When I’m not reading things for work, you can find me walking our sweet three-legged rescue dog, listening to podcasts (top ones: On Being, Fresh Air, El Hilo), attending a monthly sci-fi/fantasy book group, speaking Spanish whenever possible, watching a little more TV than I should (especially British mysteries), and reading a good book. Recent favorite reads: Piranesi (Susanna Clarke), Black Sun (Rebecca Roanhorse), A Long Petal of the Sea (Isabel Allende). All-time favorites include Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina; Barbara Kingsolver’s Animal Dreams; and Anne Lamott’s classic book on writing and life, Bird by Bird.
