My job as an editor is to help you show your best work to your readers. As a writer, you’ve already done the hard work of creating, whether you’ve written a book, an article, copy for a website, or a newsletter. As an editor, I come on the scene to take a fresh look at things like grammar, spelling, punctuation, word choice, verb tense, and consistency. I’m here to tend to those details so that your content shines through to your audience, without the writing equivalent of dirty windows, dusty shelves, or a cluttered room. My education and experience give me a good feel for when to get in and make an edit, when to just leave a comment, and when to let things go or break some rules in the interest of style and voice. I stay up on what people who work with words are thinking currently by following the work of linguists, writers, lexicographers, and other editors.
